The Regional Alliance for Preservation provides information and resources on preservation and conservation for cultural institutions and the public throughout the United States.
Amigos Imaging and Preservation Service (IPS) is a non-profit, grant-funded service that provides information, support, and training to libraries, archives, and cultural institutions throughout the southwestern U.S., primarily in Arizona, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Established in 1991 with a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Amigos' preservation service began by documenting the preservation needs of libraries and archives in its region. Today, Amigos provides information, disaster preparedness and recovery assistance, training, and site survey consultations, assists in the development of state and local cooperative networks, and serves as a preservation advocate both regionally and nationally.
Amigos also offers digitization training, metadata training (including preservation, EAD, TEI, METS), project planning, grant proposal writing and review, preservation training (paper, books, audio, video, film), and specialized consultation services.
