Preservation of Textiles (Philadelphia, PA)

Presented By: The Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts

Description: Participants in this workshop will learn to properly care for costumes and textiles and to identify issues requiring consultation with a conservator. The first part of this workshop will present an overview of the various types of textiles found in museum collections, introduce methods for storage and display, and discuss appropriate choices for cleaning, crease removal, and repair. The second half will take a hands-on approach to allow participants to practice preservation techniques.
